Justin Bieber has had a landmark year, earning among other accolades a friendship with Kim Kardashian, a #1 album, a sold-out tour and a multitude of hits. And now, in addition to performing at the 2010 Video Music Awards on September 12, he’s also been nominated for Best New Artist for “Baby.”
MTV News hit Madison Square Garden before Bieber’s sell-out gig on Tuesday and asked Bieber’s fans about his chances of winning. The Beliebers, who are famous — and at times infamous — for their rabid devotion, not surprisingly, predicted very little competition for their hero from his fellow nominees, including chart-toppers Ke$sha and Nicki Minaj. Because the Best New Artist is decided by the public, Bieber’s fans said they’ll see to it that he takes home his Moonman.
“Most of the fans that he has are really big fans, so if they vote for him, they’ll vote for him every single day,” Bailey Solomons explained. Solomons, along with two friends, did not have tickets for the MSG show, but dressed up in their best Bieber garb hoping to be invited in. Another fan, Alexa Summerlin, affirmed Bailey’s sentiment, saying, “Justin has a big fanbase and the people are gonna vote for him.”
“Nobody stands a chance against him, if they did, I would be so shocked,” said Taylor Carro, a fan who plans on voting before the September 12 deadline.
Other fans had a simpler argument for why Bieber stands to pick up the award. “He’s amazing and everyone loves him!” Diana Rossi gushed. “All the teenagers and kids love him,” Danicka Przchowski added.

Though 2010 MTV Video Music Awards host Chelsea Handler likes to joke that she will have no idea who anybody is when she plays the ringmaster of the biggest party of the year on September 12, she has quite a history with a handful of the artists who will be sharing the stage with her. She says most of the hip-hop stars on the show have “slapped her ass,” and one of her more notable guests on her E! talk show “Chelsea Lately” has been none other than Justin Bieber.
The last time Bieber appeared on the show, the 16-year-old joked that the two of them should get together. “You know, last time I was serious about that date too and it never happened,” he told the host, referencing his first appearance on the show a few months prior.
But if Handler was seduced before, she has certainly changed her tune now. “He’s a two face is what he is,” Handler joked to MTV News’ Jim Cantiello during a conversation backstage at Handler’s show this week. “He acted like we were in a committed relationship, and then he was prancing around with Kim Kardashian on the beaches like they’re a couple.”
Handler resolved to no longer be seduced by the Canadian pop sensation’s charms. “He’s using the flirty card with everybody he meets, and I’m not gonna fall for that,” she said. “I’m 35 years old. I only have about five good years left in me, and I’m not going to waste my time on that guy.”
The love triangle could come to a head at the VMAs, as Kardashian recently tweeted that she will be appearing on the show. Still, Bieber has been one of Handler’s most reliable foils on her show, so the combination of the two at the VMAs should make for some interesting television. Source: MTV.com

You’ve got another chance to see Justin Bieber perform along with some other fabulous musicians at Nickelodeon’s first annual Mega Music Fest. It’s an hour long prime-time concert special airing September 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon. The concert will featuring a bunch of live musical performances mixed in with animated segments and comedic breaks. Some other artists set to hit the stage include Colbie Caillat, Wyclef Jean and The Roots. Plus, you might recognize some other performers from popular Nickelodeon shows like Dora the Explorer, Yo Gabba Gabba!, The Fresh Beat Band and more.

If fans were looking for a spectacle when they bought tickets to Justin Bieber’s Madison Square Garden My World Tour stop, they got it. Bieber was joined by a slew of his celebrity friends including Miley Cyrus, Ludacris, Usher, Jaden Smith and Boyz II Men for the concert, footage from which will be used in his 3-D concert movie, due out next year. After the show, his fans couldn’t help but rave about the show and how much they adore Bieber. “It was amazing! The best concert ever! We love Justin Bieber and we want him to marry us,” Bieber fan Kelly told MTV News in the moments after the show wrapped. Another fan added, “OK, so the concert was amazing. We came all the way from the Dominican Republic because we love Justin Bieber. It was all full of surprises and amazing.” Samantha agreed with her fellow Beliebers, saying, “Honestly, it was the best thing I’ve ever been to in my life.” Another fan added, “He danced, he sang, he played piano, drums, guitar, and he was just so cute!” Olivia Bernstein and her pal Sarah raved about the show’s amazing powers, noting that they got into a bit of a scuffle in order to see Biebs in concert. “Fighting with two moms tonight was for him and it was great,” she said. “It was so much fun. It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. All of the surprise guests were amazing.” Speaking of those special guests, they really amped up the show’s already over-the-top energy. “Miley Cyrus came. Usher was there. Jaden Smith, Ludacris … There were so many people … it was the best show ever,” Olivia explained. Kibriyaa added, “Justin Bieber’s my favorite, but when Jaden came out, I just … I jumped!” Inside the Garden, the screams were overpowering, and afterwards, Bieber fan Sarah admitted she was still feeling the side effects of Bieber fever. “We thought it was over and then he was like, ‘Do you want more?’ I can’t hear anything because our ears are, like, clogged.” Have you seen Justin Bieber in concert? Justin Bieber better watch his back. Christofer Drew, aka Never Shout Never, is currently holing up in the same hotel as the 16-year-old pop star, however, the Missouri native doesn’t seem to be a fan.
“Stayin’ at the same hotel as the biebs,” Christofer tweeted on Thursday. “I’m gunna kick his a**.” Whoa! We’re not sure if Christofer is kidding or not — he hasn’t written anything else about Justin — but if he’s serious, he may have just instigated a battle between Never Shout Never fans and true Beliebers.
We have love for both JB and NSN, so we’re not choosing any sides, but when we think about it, Christofer is kind of like the alt version of Justin. The laid-back, tattooed singer-songwriter has built a huge following of loyal listeners and, with the help of mega producers like Butch Walker, has been trailblazing the music scene with his clever lyrics and signature jams. Justin, on the other hand, has cast a spell on the world with his squeaky clean pop/R&B swagger, and has Usher and tons of other top celebs in his corner.

On Tuesday night (August 31), Justin Bieber took over the world’s most famous arena (New York City’s Madison Square Garden) and trotted out a team of superstars for the 16-year-old pop superstar’s biggest concert to date. The concert included appearances by Miley Cyrus, Usher, Boyz II Men, Ludacris and Jaden Smith (as well as regular guest star and opening act Sean Kingston), and it saw Bieber truly coming into his own as a dynamic stage presence. He was able to hold his own with everybody, be it his tag-team with Smith on “Never Say Never” or his duet with Cyrus on “Overboard.” In a little under a year, he has gone from a kid who managed to whip off a few impressive Internet videos to a charismatic star who had no trouble captivating the sold-out crowd at MSG.
That bodes well for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, which includes Bieber among the roster of performers (a list that also includes Eminem, Drake, Paramore, B.o.B, Kanye West, Florence and the Machine and Linkin Park). Yesterday, we asked exactly which song Bieber should unleash at the awards, and fans seemed to prefer the idea of Bieber teaming up with mentor Usher (who will also be performing at the show) for a take on their remix of “Somebody to Love.” That track won the voting in the poll, taking home 34 percent of the votes cast. “Never Say Never,” the duet with Smith, came in second place with 21 percent, while “Baby” (Bieber’s biggest hit to date) came in third with 14 percent. “One Time” (the singer’s first breakout hit) picked up 10 percent (general sentiment on that song was that it was too old), while “U Smile” and “Runaway Love” (the remix that includes Kanye West and Raekwon) each grabbed eight percent. That left “Eenie Meenie” at the rear with five percent.
Whatever he ends up performing, it will certainly be a memorable VMAs for Bieber, who will be competing for the Moonman for Best New Artist (for “Baby”) against the likes of Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo and Broken Bells.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 for Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners from now through September 12. SOURCE: MTV.com
